Hi, I’m Kristina Ellis! Before I ever taught families how to pay for college differently, I had to figure it out myself.
When I was a freshman in high school, in the most loving way possible, my mom told me that paying for college would be my responsibility. That moment changed everything. She motivated me to study how scholarships actually work. I wanted to understand not only how to find them, but how winners are chosen.
That journey led to over $500,000 in scholarships and a debt-free graduation from Vanderbilt University. Later, serving on scholarship selection committees gave me a rare perspective most families never see: how decisions are really made behind the scenes.
